Disneyland & Universal Studios Trip 2016

Yes, my friends. Your eyes do not fail you.

I went to Disneyland. And Universal Studios. And California Adventure. And Morphe Brushes!

It was as amazing as you would expect from two large young-at-hearts. And really, I am so glad to have found someone as profoundly goofy as I am. There aren’t many out there who would GLADLY wait in 45-min lines to ride Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. Or who understand the injustice that the age cut off for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is 12. But David gets it. He loves it. Together, we bum-rushed the gates of Hogwarts to be FIRST IN LINE for the Forbidden Journey. We bought his and hers Slytherin and Ravenclaw shirts. We DID IT UP. And instead of writing an entire post with “and then we______” (got a fast pass, stood in line for Dole Whips, etc) I figure I’d let photos do they thing.

So here is a humble video I made commemorating our glorious 3-day trip to Cali. I would like to thank my boy David for whisking me away on this adventure and being my (very literal) dream come true ♥.

Marc Jacobs Glowstick Review

Shoutout to Influenster for sending me this product to review! (ANYONE can sign up for Influenster, btw I’m not that cool)

image

When I found out I was receiving this box, I was of course, overjoyed and promptly watched the application video on the Sephora website. What I really liked about the video, was how the guy was putting it basically ALL over the face. I mean YAASSS QUEEN. It truly looked so natural, dewy and gorgeous on the model.

PACKAGING

image

The packaging is very true-to-form MJ. Black and white, very sleek and modern. I really like the little rounded square shape and the fact that it twists up.

FORMULA

image

The formula is pretty much your run-of-the-mill cream product. It’s not too thick, but not too thin. It is not sticky, nor does it have a smell.

PERFORMANCE

image

One swipe

I realllllly love the glow this product gives! It is striking without being overpowering and the fact that it’s a cream gives it even more of a natural look. The staying power was good, I did not notice it disappeared on me, but I also didn’t think it was particularly long-lasting either. The way I applied this was with my fingertips and then used a duo-fiber brush to buff it in a bit.

OVERALL

I love it! I am so excited to use this all summer on not only m’mug, but my decollete and shoulders. This is truly the first cream highlight I have seen that really packs a punch in terms of pigmentation and blends out smoothly.

Morphe Brushes Store Haul

Am I on a role with these hauls, or AM I ON A ROLE WITH THESE HAULS!?

As you all know by now, or maybe not, I went to Disneyland with my BF Dah-vide! And Universal! And I got to stay with THEE world’s most amazing and cutest family everrr.

And on our way back from Disneyland on Sunday, he did me a solid and drove to Morphe Brushes in Burbank, California.

I fell asleep with my frowned mouth open on the way there and about hyperventilated when we pulled up to Morphe. David waited 25 patient minutes in the car for me, as I sleepily shuffled around the store in a daze with like 30 other beauty-obsessed gals as techno music pumped. I was sweaty, nervous, completely overwhelmed and STUPIDLY left my shopping list for which brushes I wanted at home. DOH!

I ended up googling Jaclyn Hill and Manny MUA’s favorites and then just going off feel. Here are the brushes I ended up getting:

M441

image

M433

image

M497

image

E56

imageimage

I also nabbed some individual lashes

image

and these bottom lashes for when I feel like lookin’ like a baby doll.

image

I then picked up a couple of things from L.A Girl on a TOTAL whim:

L.A Girl Velvut Blush Contour Stick in Cuddle and the Glazed Lip Paint in Peony

image

image

Lip Paint on top, Blush Stick on bottom

image

Lip Glaze on me

Annnnnd lastly (drumroll please!) I got the iconic Morphe 350 palette!!!

image

image

image

Like I said, I was totally overwhelmed. If I had an entire afternoon, I would have probably gotten a few more brushes, contemplated the Model in a Bottle setting spray and tried on more of the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks (I alllmost bought Rose Matter). They DID have the Jeffree Star mint-green skin frost but were sadly sold out of all the other colors, including the shade Ice Cold, which I DESPERATELY want.

GIANT ULTA HAUL

I felt like making the title of this blog post as much like the title of a YouTube video as possible.

image

And SPEAKING of YouTube…I was burying myself in some more weird-ass videos the other day. You guys know how I do. One day it’s people obsessed with those claw machines at Wal-Mart and the next it’s people who pay large sums of money for eerily realistic, anatomically correct silicon baby dolls. These people make videos as if the baby is alive…feeding them, changing their diaper, waking them up from a nap. I was enamored. I still am.

So right – yes – an Ulta haul! I had a $50 gift card from my birthday burning a hole in pocket and I knew I wanted to wait to use it until summer time. No easy feat my friends. Here is what I selected:

L’Oreal  Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Serum in Medium

image

I decided to give the serum a shot after reading good reviews. I have been a long-time fan of the Sublime Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion for it’s good color and easy application but I literally cannot STAND the glitter. This doesn’t seem to have any glitter and I love that it is a quick-dry formula. I will keep you all posted on how I like it!

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Mist

image

Ulta had a BOGO on these L’oreal self tanners so i decided to pick this one up as well, as I have never tried it before. I find that most aerosol self-tanners yield far less uses than a lotion, gel or mousse, but they are SO easy to use. I plan to try this one out ASAP because I am going on a special trip this weekend ;).

Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk

image

Thank the LORD Ulta started carrying Soap & Glory!!!! I am addicted to so many of their products and when I noticed this product was available online (not sure about in-store) I knew I needed it. I am basically out of the Shiseido Cleansing Fluide that I got several months ago so the timing was perf. I am SO excited about this and I LOVE that it has a pump.

Soap & Glory Body Sprays in Original Pink and Smoothie Star

image

YOU GUYS. I literally peed my pants when I saw these on the Ulta website. Ever since S&G left Sephora and they discontinued their perfume, I have been devastated. NO JOKE I have considered ordering the scent on ebay. So when I saw they were selling body sprays in their addictive, wonderful, unique scents I knew I needed both of them. PLUS they were only $6 a pop and they actually last decently long so I am just OVERJOYED I have these!

Ulta Brand Makeup Blending Sponge Duo

image

I bought these pups on a recommendation from Casey Holmes but then I talked to my sister last week and she said they are NOT good. So they are probs going back because I trust Meggy’s opinion on makeup application tools implicitly.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer

image

Ever since Jaclyn Hill RAVED about this bronzer, I knew I had to have it. It went on sale for $8.99 on Ulta.com and I debated whether or not to get the light color, or the bronze color. I am glad I went with the bronze color because it is perfect! It also smells how I think Adriana Lima smells. OMG I am so excited to cover my face with this stuff!

Makeup Revolution Cream Contour Palette

image

image

SO. I have been wanting a cream contour palette for awhile now. I knew I wasn’t going to shell out the money for the Anastasia or Kevin Aucoin one, and after watching TONS of reviews on the NYX, Elf and Makeup Revolution ones respectively, I decided to go with this one. I swatched a few of the colors right away and they are a thinner consistency which is good. I must do more testing to figure out if this is any good and of course, I will let you know!

NYX Nude Matte Eyeshadow in Dance the Tides

image

image

I have been on the hunt for some richer, warm shades as I find they really compliment blue eyes. When I read somewhere that this color was a dupe for Mac’s saddle, I HAD to get it and after one swatch I already know it’s going to be MONEY buffed into the crease.

Free Gift: Redken Beach Envy Samples

image

Dont you just love free things!? I am really pumped to try all these guys, especially the leave-in treatment and beach volume spray.

I also got a Cargo Cosmetics bag filled with deluxe sized samples that I forgot to photograph:(. However, here are some of the products I got:

pT1U5Arr (1)

I haven’t heard the best things about the new Honest skin care line but like, how bad can a hydration mist be?

_10188707

I am SO pumped to try this setting spray with SPF from Coola! I really like this brand and think it’s genius that someone finally came out with a setting spray with SPF.

1003-01677-bliss-btg-hide-glow-sleek-fair-to-md-pdp

The whole “fat girl slim” thing to me is a bit of a hoax. I mean, you can’t get skinnier by spraying a product on your thighs or else the whole world would look like Gigi Hadid. However, I am a big fan of tinted body mists (like Airbrush Legs from Sally Hanson) because I am very, very white.

TAR096-2T

Lastly, I got a sample of this self tanner from Tarte, which I have previously purchased the full size of. I am not a huge fan of this stuff. It has an olive base which doesn’t jive with m’undertones as much a red-based tanner. Nonetheless, I will be using it.

And that’s all she I wrote! Let me know new products YOU have purchased lately!

The Weekend that Almost Wasn’t

Last Friday, despite the projected 108 degree temps in Keneweez, I decided to drive home.

I made myself an iced coffee and left work around 2:45 on Friday and promptly hit the road. I stopped at a gas station before Hood River, filled my gas tank, grabbed a Red Bull and a small bag of pretzels and I was back on the road. Then I got THE CALL. It was David letting me know that a bunch of oil train trucks derailed outside Hood River and traffic was being routed over to the Washington side of the river. “NO BIG,” I thought, as I kept my foot on the gas. I figured traffic might be a bit slow going over the bridge, but was fine as my book on CD was slaying and I had an emergency tube of Spree in the glove compartment.

NOT THE CASE.

I was in the car for over 10 HOURS you guys. 10, grueling, tiresome, pee-inducing hours.

image

But Natalie, why didn’t you turn around?!

Did George Washington turn around when the Deleware River got a little rocky?

Did Ghandi stop fasting when he realized a plate of hummus and pita sounded AMAZING?!!

I DON’T THINK SO.

Did you end up peeing your pants from the coffee and Red Bull?

Very nearly. After I got over the bridge, I pulled over at the first rest stop and the women’s line was about 15 people deep. Definitely a reasonable length for someone who had to pee at a normal rate, but NOT ME. So I did what any normal person would do in my situation. I walked ran behind the bathrooms, down a little path by some trees and peed in the straight up bushes. Yes, my butt cheeks could easily have been spotted. And no, I did not care.

image

Then I hopped back in my car and bid the miserable-looking women in the bathroom line adieu as I squirted some cake-scented anti-bacterial gel on my hands.

image

I got home around 11 pm that night. Nan lovingly stayed up on the couch and awaited my arrival. She sympathized with me as I shoveled in leftover pasta salad and told her how I almost peed in an old Starbucks cup in my car. Oh Jesu, what an ordeal.

The next day Nan and I had a good chat in her ginormous bathroom.

image

Meg texted us that Tate had a little fever and our plans of getting out the kiddie pool quickly changed to sitting around trying to make him happy. But we did try on the adorable Hanna Andsersson swim trunks that David bought for him!

image

That night, Nan and I headed back home for some wine and bbq.

image

My mom’s BFF Barbara came over and so did my Auntie Mary. After a few glasses, I whipped out my phone and showed them Snapchat and basically was a sorcerer. They were all laughing so hard and saying the absolute funniest things everr.

image

Then Megan let me give Tate a bath in my mom’s big bath tub and it was the sweetest thing everrrrr.

image

image

The next day I woke up, showered and we played with Tate in his perfect little nursery and ran a couple errands.

image

image

image

I hit the road a few hours later and was able to make it back to Portland within a few hours. I will NEVER take normal travel times for granted EVER AGAIN.

Sephora Gradual Self Tanning Face Water Review

Good morning friends!

There is no other way for me to kick off this post than by saying “GOOD MORNING FRIENDS!” I have been binge watching the Saccone-Jolys on YouTube and now it’s just my thing.

Today, I bring you my thoughts on the Sephora Gradual Self Tanning Face Waterephora Gradual Self Tanning Face WaI hauled back in March.

image

When I first started using this stuff, I thought I would quickly go through the 4.22 oz bottle in no time. And considering it costs $18, I was slightly disappointed because obviously I wouldn’t be spending almost $20 per month just to have a tanned face… or would I?

However, I have been using this around 4-5 times per week since March and I still have TONS left. So that’s peh geh.

FORMULA

What I love most about this product is the formula. It is literally exactly what it says it is – a water. It feels exactly like applying my Bioderma micellar water. There is zero stickiness, which I was very pleasantly surprised by as most tanning products tend to be tacky especially when freshly applied.

SMELL

In many of the reviews on Sephora and on Youtube, people either love or hate the “beachy” smell of this product, but I gotta be honest with you guys: I smell NOTHING. Maybe I got a got a random scentless bottle, or maybe all the fragrance is sitting on the bottom but yeah, I don’t smell anything. At all.

APPLICATION

I just use a little cotton round and apply this in the “3” motion, starting at my temple, sweeping below my cheekbone and then right under my jawline. I then take whatever is left on the pad and go over my whole face and neck. I find that I start seeing results from about  2-3 nights and mornings of application.

RESULTS

I looooooove the color I get from this product! It is perfection. No weird break outs, or little bumps either. I love how gradual it is and how you can keep putting it on night and morning until you get the color you want. There is something kinda gross to me about wearing tanning lotions on my face, so the fact that this stuff is a WATER is groundbreaking.

OVERALL

This product is easily worth the $18 and I will probs be a lifetime purchaser. It is SO easy to use, not messy, and gives the perfect amount of controllable color – what’s not to love!?

Weekends, Tate, and Falling Off a Ski Lift

Last weekend, my favorite sissy Rachel came to visit me!

image

She doesn’t look that thrilled to be in the picture but I promise, she was ecstatic.

We actually had a pretty chill weekend. Her cat Mosi licked all the foundation off my makeup brushes, we conversated with Megan and Tate, and sampled Four Loko anti-freeze. Here are some more of the highlights:

Haha highlights… maybe it was the long work trip I had on Friday or maybe it was the frozen marg I had at lunch on Saturday or maybe it was the mopey weather but I partied HARD when we got home…

Cue the nap party!

image

image

image

And then I woke up and decided to do Rachel’s makeup. I put 4239983472 different products on her.

image

AND THEN. Rachel brudded m’hurr

image

And we FaceTimed Annie, who is quite possibly, my favorite human. At the time, I was buffing Rache’s foundation in with the Beauty Blender  (which Annie thinks is really fun to watch). She even joined in with her own make-shift Beauty Blender…

image

#itsanegg

But MAN OH MAN. How gorgeous is this girl?

image

We met up with some palz at Sellwood Public House #skittlesinfusedvodka and were seated next two a table of douche canoes (as evidenced here).

image

Then we came home and the party continued!

image

Such a great weekend with RJ – she is truly a gem.

In other news, Tate remains theeee sweetest angel baby of all time.

image

image

He was dreaming of his Auntie Nataweeee

image

image

He now crawls everywhere, uses his walker to crash into anything and everything and is pulling himself up. My heart cannot take it.

image

In other news, I FELL OFF A SKI LIFT.

This happened a few weeks ago and I DO NOT care to talk about it. What I will say is that I was probably 5 feet off the ground and right before I hit the ground I yelled, “WHOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAA!” kindof over-dramatically but like, I thought I was falling to my death. I was with David and Andy and they were both good sports about it. David tried to save my life but was forced to make a game-time decision as we rose higher and higher on the lift.

I also had to awkwardly get back in line in front of everyone who saw the whole thing and my goggles were askew but I didn’t want to stop and fix them because I was trying to hurry and i had upper-lip sweat.

image

Taken on that fateful day

And lastly, I got to see my bestie Holly at the Clackamas Whitewater Festival!! We camped, ate snausages and peed outside. We also left with some pretty awesome NRS swag (Thanks Mopes!).

FullSizeRender

image

Here we are with Meira who is very nearly, the best dog of all time.

And lastly, allllll the dresses are out at alllll the stores. Target is just absolutely killing me with their stuff and I feel like they have so much to choose from this year. Unfortunately for me, a new pair of specs and a looming root canal are keeping my pennies in my pocket, but like, how cute is this little number? Note: I did not buy this #selfrestraint.

image

My sister Megan’s biggest pet peeve is that I don’t remove my socks when trying on clothes.

AND that’s my life.
