G’day my lovely plushies!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these fun lil’ posts so I thought WHY THE HECK NOT!? I’d like to thank the lovely Kittyp0p for nominating me!

1. What’s your biggest dream?

To sing in a big gospel choir. With the robes and everything.

2. Favorite guilty pleasure snack?

I love mixing different cereals together and eating it dry, out of small bowls.

3. What’s the meal you’re best at making?

David loves these little appetizers I make and calls them California rolls. They’re really called Southwestern Baked Egg Rolls and I based my recipe off the one here.

4. How many teeth have you had pulled?

Two wisdom teeth on my left, upper and lower.

5. What color do you hope your child’s eyes will be?

Well first of all, I hope I am capable of having a child! If I am, eye color is the last thing I’ll care about. But if I had to pick I’d say blue, like mine.

6. Favorite book series?

I really like all the historical fiction from Philippa Gregory, like The Other Boleyn Girl. Really great books!

7. Who is the most inspirational person you know that’s younger than you?

For whatever random reason, I am really inspired by a ballet dance by the name of Joy Womack. She is a Bolshoi-Ballet trained dancer (one of the only Americans to train there) and her work ethic and drive is truly admirable. She also has a YouTube channel where I live vicariously through her.

8. What time is it where you are?

6:00 pm PST

9. Where would you go to escape the world?

Where would I? Well if I could go anywhere to escape it would be Paris or Capri. Currently, when I need to escape it is in my bed with YouTube.

10. Do you prefer sweet or savory foods?

Happened so fast!

See what I did there? And canijustsay, I DID NOT like ONJ in Grease. Sorry Liv, but your voice is nauseating and your baby hips in leather pants are just plain odd. Gotta love Beauty School Dropout though!

1. Summer Lipstick You’re Loving?

Definitely Just Peachy by Wet’n’Wild – of the $1.99 varietal. It is gorgeous, summery and the perfect peach hue. Over top, I LOVE my Lancôme Gloss in Love in the shade Peach Show.

2. Summer nail polish you’re loving?

I have been wearing Teeny Bikini by Victoria’s Secret TONS this summer. Such a perfect Barbie pink.

3. Bikini you’re loving this summer?

DEFINITELY this little number, by Target. The top has padding and it pushes those babies to the sky, and the bottoms are perfect, i.e – they actually cover my bottom.

4. Favorite summer Frappuccino from Starbucks?

I have to admit I have wasted many a treat receipt this summer, but I DO enjoy the Caramel Crunch one.

5. Favorite fake tan?

I am going to have to give this one to the Rodan + Fields Foaming Sunless Tan. I did a whole review of it here and it is just a wonderful product, developed by the same broads who brought us Proactiv!

6. Favorite summer song?

DUH! In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry!

7. Favorite summer accessory?

Can sunblock count!? If so, I have been loving two: the first is a stick sunblock by Neutrogena (in SPF 70!). It doesn’t budge and I feel like my face is actually protected since it stays put. The other is the Silk Hydration by Hawaiian Tropic, it feels so nice on the skin and really moisturizes, plus it has that wonderful Hawaiian Tropic smell :).

8. Favorite summer fragrance?

Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia

9. Summer book you’re loving?

This one!

10. What are you most excited to do this summer?

Inspirational Blogger Award!

I wouldn’t go so far as to say I am inspirational…

Unless you find it inspiring how much I love cotton candy and blush.

A big, giant, scary-sized hug to Sarah of Our Detroit Wedding for the nom, I truly appreciate it. Sarah is planning a wedding of her own and girlfriend is PREPARED. I wish I were half as creative or driven as she is, when it came to my own nuptials. Go girl.

In terms of rules, I must acknowledge the person who nominated me (check!), list 7 facts about myself and nominate 10 peeps. Honestly though, every time I follow directions and actually nominate 10 others, I never hear back. So I will just be keeping this award all about me!

7 Random Facts About Me

1. I am obsessed with period films (NO. Not movies about surfin’ the crimson wave). You know, the ones set in Britain, usually starring Colin Firth or Hugh Grant or BOTH. Where there’s family turmoil, affairs of the heart and most importantly, good ol’ fashioned romance. A time when holding hands and going for a stroll through the gah-dens was favorable. A world devoid of twerking, sexting and half-inch inseam, high-waisted acid washed shorts.

2. I have recurring anxiety dreams (you know the ones) where I am late to my volleyball game and I don’t have my uniform or ankle braces or shoes or spandex and have to borrow everything. If you have ever played a team sport, you know how much it sucked when you forgot something and had to borrow. You were “that” girl.

3. I hate Canadian Geese. They are right above reptiles in my book.

4. I have always wanted to be able to “shoot the duck”. You know this move if you ever attended a Skate Night during elementary school. All the cool kids could shoot that mothereffin duck.

5. I recently purchased a Kitchen Aid in the color Ice and it is the crown jewel in our home.

6. The bottoms of my feet are perpetually dirty. Maybe it’s an Eastern Washington thing, or maybe because it’s the fact that I don’t like to wear shoes when I go outside to get the mail…

7. I just finished the book,”The Paris Wife” and I am now completely obsessed with Ernest Hemingway (or Hem, as I know refer to him). He had four wives, was a raging alcoholic and liked to fight people but for whatever reason I find the man to be intoxicating. Go figure.

11 Random Facts About Me

I just started wearing contacts regularly and I HATE putting them in.
When I was in 5th grade, I was the Tin Man in our school’s production of the Wizard of Oz. I was on the news and behaved like a regular asshat.
I am passionate about LGBT rights.
Cereal might be my favorite food. (Who wants a Top 5 cereal post!?)
I can play the first few measures of Vanessa Carlton’s 1000 Miles on the piano.
I HAVE never and WILL never eat a banana. I DESPISE them.
I believe Edith Bouvier Beale to be one of the best humans ever.

1. What is your favourite food/meal to have on a special occasion?

Crab cakes, birthday cake w/rainbow chip frosting, ice cream cake. Various cakes.

2. Your favourite hobby?

Blogging! Writing! I also like reading, singing and dancing around the house and baking cupcakes. Also, makeup. Shopping for it, applying it, organizing it, etc. AND I enjoy playing volleyball and running (downhill) when I can.

3. Dream job?

PR for a theater or ballet company. Makeup artist. Product development/marketing for a high-end cosmetics company. I’d also take Rick Steve’s job.

4. Favourite brand of makeup?

If price were no object, Nars or Chanel. Brand I use most? L’Oreal or MAC.

5. What is your guilty pleasure?

Lifetime Movies, Shows like Greek and Make it or Break It, Tricky Sticks from the Pipeline (OMG). Swedish fish.

6. What is one thing people would be surprised to find out about you?

Even though I looove me some makeup and hurr curr – I am also kindof a major ragamuffin. I have perpetual bedhead and smudged mascara.

7. When I ask what makes you happy? What is the first thing that pops into your head?

VACATION. Christmas time. Sun.

8. Greatest accomplishment?

I gotta say volleyball. It was MY WHOLE LIFE for a good, oh, 10 years or so. Firstly, I am not coordinated. I am also clumsy and kind of a walking disaster BUT – I worked my ass of for a good while. And it paid off – both teams I played for in college won the league. I received awards and broke some school records. My senior year I was even awarded first team all-american and was MVP of the league! For the gangly, B-team, awkwardness that I was – I think I ended up doing pretty well for myself. *plz note I played at a community college and a Div. 3 college – I’m not Misty May or anything CLOSE.

9. What is on your agenda today?

TONS.

I have had one terrible relationship so the breakup was actually a GODSEND.

So- here’s the thing. I am pretty sensitive about the way I look. I know, I have a blog so WTF am I doing? Well, I don’t post photos I don’t like (duh) and I try to keep things light-hearted here. One time, a guy at a bar told me I looked like Brooke Hogan and I literally didn’t come out of my apartment for a month.

42: Favorite flavor of sweet?

Cotton candy and/or birthday cake. And I like the buttered popcorn Jelly Bellies.

43: What instruments do you play??

Clarinet, a teensy bit of piano and yes, the RECORDER! I whistle nicely, too.

Duurrr, my engagement ring!

I am pretty sure I threw the football around with Bryan at some point last fall. But actually played? I helped coach varsity volleyball at Jackson Hole High School a couple years ago?

Beauty Scenario Tag

Hello my looooves!

Big internet hugs to Heather, from Coconut & Cotton for tagging me! This one’s gonna be a hoot.

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?

For the sake of “the tag” let’s just say I currently have all my favorite foundations right now. I would EASILY keep the Makeup Forever HD Foundation in shade 118 and L’Oreal True Match Lumi in Soft Ivory.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?

IGNORE. All. The. Way. Don’t know about you, but when someone tells me “you have lipstick on your teeth/mascara on your eyelid/etc.” and then I go look in the mirror and it’s like one minuscule speck of misplaced color, I’m like OK, YOU IDIOT. I mean, for God’s sake, TELL ME if there’s like an enormous bat in the cave – but one little lipstick smudge? Keep that sh*t to yo’self.

3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?

Most def MAC Viva Glam Gaga in Shade 1. The blue undertones make my teeth look white and it’s perfect.

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?

First, I would have bought my self a right-fine push-up bra and shimmied to all my classes. Then, I would have refrained from the use of butterfly clips and shimmery pastel eyeshadows to match my baby tees. I would slap myself for being besties with the tanning bed and make myself wear actual lipstick. Not Bonne Bell rollerballs.

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mom hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.

I would just commit murder, plain and simple. Or arson. My Ernie-shaped face could NOT handle a pixi. In reality, I would pick A. Then I would get extensions.

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which ‘do it all’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?

What a great friend I have! I don’t own a palette with everything, but I would probably grab my Too Faced compact which contains a blush and two eye shadow colors. Kinda like the one in this set:

One of the shadows can also double as a highlighter, then all I really need is mascara and concealer. And eyeliner. And lipstick. Crap.

7. Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?

Blimey! My Naked 3 palette, my Nars eyeliner and my MAC Viva Glam Gaga 1 (because it was limited edish).

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs?

I don’t have any friends as makeup obsessed as me. My sister is though. And since we are sisters I would definitely call her out. So I guess B or C. Hahaa. She is DEFINITELY the more careful one, so it would probably me that would ruin it.

What appropriate timing!

Oscar Sunday coming up and I get nominated for another Liebster Award? Move over Meryl. Take a seat, Ms. Bullock. There’s an up-and-comer and she’s taking the world by storm!

Here are the 11 questions I was asked to answer:

1. What made you want to start a blog?

Originally it was to document my fiance Bryan and I’s life together in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I wanted to write about our adventures in the mountains, my learning to ski, recipes and everything in between.

2. If you were given a shopping spree, in what store would you choose to use it?

OMG What a great question! So many schools of thought here. I suppose at this prudent, nesting stage in my life, it would be Restoration Hardware. BUT. The other sides of me would scream “SEPHORA!”, “BERGDORFS!” or “TAAAARRRGET!”.

3. Do you wear makeup everyday, or just on special occasions?

Errday my friends.

4. Who is your favorite band/singer/musician?

DUDE. These questions! Toughie. Dead or alive I am assuming? Honestly, my favorite music to listen to is all from Musicals and/or Disney. Does Ariel count as a musician?

5. What is the one thing, no matter how crap your day was, that can make you smile?

Several things. A cocktail. Ellen DeGeneres. My fiance. Talking to any member of my family. Sandwiches. Texting my friends ugly pictures of myself with “the claw”. Serial killer literature. Or of course, baby monkey.

6. Are you a tech junkie, or just a tech user?

USER all the way. And while we’re on the subject, let’s bring back the rotary dial!

7. If you were a lip product, what product and color would you be? (lipstick, gloss, balm…)

MAC Saint Germain lipstick. All. The. Way.

8. What is your favorite type of blog post to read/write?

I love reading mommy blogs because one day I will be a mom and I will need all the help I can get. My favorite posts to write are probably vacation re-caps, because hey, I just got back from vaca b*itches!

9. What is your go to type of outfit?

Well, this is obviously seasonal. However, right now I would have to say, Gap skinny jeans, a slightly baggy sweater, boots, a scarf and my new Tory Burch purse :). But of course, you’re never fully dressed without ~~a smile~~ diamonds.

10. Do you have a favorite meal to cook?

I get more of a kick outta baking. Namely cupcakes. I make a mean salad dressing, I suppose. And these are also a favorite of mine to make.

11. Are you a glass half full, or glass half empty person?

Half full forever. Nay, brimming! OVERFLOWING.
